Pull better pots. Fire with confidence.I fell for clay watching my grandmother fire water pots outside Dakar. Twelve years and roughly 40,000 pieces later, I teach wheel throwing and glaze chemistry from my studio in Asheville, NC - and I've helped 3,000+ students stop fighting the wheel.

From a wood fire in Dakar to a kiln in Asheville
I learned to love clay before I ever touched a wheel, watching my grandmother pit-fire water pots outside Dakar - no cones, no controllers, just her hands and forty years of paying attention. Twelve years ago I threw my first cylinder in a community studio in Asheville, North Carolina, and I never really left. Today I run a small teaching studio there, fire about 60 kilns a year, and sell out my market booth most weekends. Here is what I believe: pottery is not a talent, it is a sequence. Centering, opening, pulling, trimming - each one is learnable in weeks, not years, if someone shows you exactly where your hands and your attention should go. That is what everything on this page is for. The glaze recipes are the ones in my own buckets. The course is the curriculum I teach in person, filmed properly. The clinic calls are me watching your hands and fixing the one thing that is actually wrong. If you have ever stood up from the wheel with wet, defeated sleeves thinking "maybe I am just not built for this" - you are exactly who I make these for.
What students say
“I fought centering for two years. Amara's cone drill fixed it in eleven days - I have the video proof. Last week I pulled my first 8 inch cylinder and cried a little.”
Priya Raman · Wheel Fluency student
“Toasted Almond from the glaze book is now my best seller. I sold 84 mugs in that glaze over the holiday markets and customers ask for it by name.”
Danny Okafor · Production potter, Columbus OH
“One 45-minute clinic call found the flaw in my pulls that three years of YouTube never did. My seconds pile is half the size it was in spring.”
Meg Sorensen · 1:1 clinic client
Questions, answered
Do the glaze recipes work in an electric kiln?+
Yes - every recipe in the Firelit Glaze Book was developed in an electric kiln at cone 6 in oxidation. That is the whole point: warm, wood-fired-looking surfaces without a wood kiln. The book includes the exact firing and cooling schedule the recipes were tested on.
I'm a total beginner. Where should I start?+
Grab the free kiln disasters guide, then start with Wheel Fluency - the course assumes nothing except access to a wheel and 3-5 hours a week. If you don't have wheel access yet, lesson one covers how to find community studio time in most cities.
What happens on a 1:1 clinic call?+
You send a short video of yourself throwing before we meet. On the call I diagnose the one or two mechanical issues actually holding you back, we fix them live while you're at your wheel, and you leave with a written practice plan plus a recording of the session.
Can I cancel The Kiln Room membership anytime?+
Yes - one click, no email required, and you keep access until the end of your billing month. Everything you've downloaded (glaze drops, firing schedules, recorded kiln openings) is yours to keep.
